Gala Bingo

I have often driven past this building and always thought this was a BUD but on closer inspection I can see that its not. Its just the way the building is designed. This however, is one of my favourite buildings. I love art deco architecture and I always imagine my own 1920's gramophone soundtrack whenever I drive past this place.

I have never been to bingo and I have never been inside this building. I will conquer two firsts and go in one day.

The Demise of the Doorway

Welcome to my tiny piece of cyberspace.

To some, the title may seem incredibly dull but to me, and hopefully to others, bricked up doorways are constantly intriguing.

I have been noticing them for years but never actually noticed that I had been noticing them (if that makes any sense at all) until I read an article about them in the Guardian last year. There is a man who has been photographing them for years and his article and photos made me stop in my tracks. It was at this point I suddenly realised just how subconsciously fascinated I was by bricked up doorways and was happy to see that I was not alone in this fascination.

This is day one of my personal official acknowledgement of the bricked up doorway so I have no photos yet, however I know exactly where to go to find my favourite ones this weekend and I can hardly wait.
